Formed in New York City in 2006 and presently under Columbia Records, Vampire Weekend is a notable American rock band. The band's inception saw Ezra Koenig leading as the vocalist and guitarist, with Rostam Batmanglij as the multi-instrumentalist, Chris Tomson handling drums, and Chris Baio on the bass. Although Batmanglij left in early 2016, he remained involved in the band's projects as a songwriter, producer, and contributing musician.
Their debut album, titled "Vampire Weekend" and released in 2008, blended indie pop, Afropop, and chamber music influences, featuring hits like "A-Punk" and "Oxford Comma" and receiving widespread praise as a groundbreaking debut. The band's follow-up, "Contra," released in 2010, also received critical acclaim and commercial success, launching at the top of the US Billboard 200 and producing popular singles such as "Holiday." The band maintained their momentum with further albums, including "Modern Vampires of the City" (2013) and "Father of the Bride" (2019), both of which upheld the band's reputation for quality, led the US charts, and each won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
