Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, is an American rapper and singer born on April 30, 2001. He gained popularity in 2017 with his song "Resume" and became even more successful after releasing "Brothers", which led to a record deal with Columbia Records later that year. Lil Tjay's first studio album, True 2 Myself, was released in 2019 and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it his first charting project. In 2020, he released the mixtape State of Emergency which featured only drill artists from New York City. His second studio album, Destined 2 Win, was released in 2021 and included the single "Calling My Phone" (with 6lack), which is his highest-charting song to date. In 2023, Lil Tjay released the song "Gangsta Boo" with fellow New York artist Ice Spice and followed it up with his third studio album, 222, in July of that year.
